F. Javier Ruiz, MD, DABPM was born in Barcelona, Spain where he has received his medical degree. He completed his anesthesiology training at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital. Dr. Ruiz is certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He continued his training by completing a fellowship in pain management and obtaining certification as a Pain Management Specialist by the American Board of Anesthesiology, American Board of Pain Medicine and American Academy of Pain Medicine.

In 1988 Dr. Javier Ruiz started his private practice in Clinical Anesthesiology at Mercy Hospital in Miami, Florida.

Since 1997 his practice has been limited to treating patients in Acute and Chronic pain. The most common types of pain seen and treated are the types related to the disorders of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. All patients' care, including evaluation and treatment are performed in his office in Mercy Hospital, located at:
